The children all enjoy looking out for the teddies that live in the
Barleylands Craft and Farm Centre, West Horndon. 7¼ inch (184 mm)

the colourful grounds of Bressingham Gardens. Includes a standard

gauge miniature railway ¾ mile (1.2 km) in length. Almost entirely

Dining trains operate at certain times. There is also a Miniature Railway at Castle Hedingham
about 660 yards (600m) in length, 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge, usually petrol
or battery electric hauled with occasional visiting steam locomotives.
Chappel & Wakes Colne, adjacent to Greater Anglia station. Trains
operate on a short length of line within the museum grounds. Standard
gauge. There is also a Miniature Railway about 200 yards (180m) in length,
5 in (127 mm) / 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge, usually steam hauled.
Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft. Includes 2 ft (610 mm) gauge
railway (the East Suffolk Light Railway) 220 yard (200 m) in
length, diesel hauled using former industrial equipment; a standard
gauge electric tramway 400 yard (360 m) in length; and trolleybuses.
Ongar to Coopersale, about 5¾ miles (9.4 km). Standard gauge.
Currently operated as two sections, Ongar to North Weald (usually
steam hauled) and North Weald to Coopersale (diesel railcar).
A heritage bus provides connections to and from London Underground
Lynnsport & Leisure Park, King’s Lynn. Line about 200 yards
(630 m) in length. 3½ in (89 mm) / 5 in (127 mm) / 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge,
steam or battery electric hauled. Expected to close some time during
2015 for relocation to a new site as part of the existing route is
required for a road scheme.
Abbey station, Wymondham to Dereham: 11 miles (17.6 km). Proposed
extension to County School, a further 6 miles (9.6 km). Possible
future extension to Fakenham, a total distance of about 23 miles
(37 km). Standard gauge. Diesel hauled or diesel railcars, with
some steam hauled services.
Peterborough to Wansford: 8 miles (12.8 km). Rolling stock
includes vintage material from continental Europe. Standard gauge.
Steam and diesel hauled. Nene Valley’s Thomas was named
by the Rev W Awdry (author of the Thomas the Tank Engine books)
in person and is the only operating Thomas that is not part
of the Mattel franchise.
Long term project to create an 83 mile (133 km) circular railway
route including lines of the Mid-Norfolk Railway, North Norfolk Railway
and Network Rail. The primary focus of the project is to establish a
route from the North Norfolk Railway terminus at Holt to meet with an
extension of the Mid-Norfolk Railway at Fakenham.

in the Paradise Wildlife Park, near Broxbourne.
