Agnew Park Miniature Railway
Agnew Park, Stranraer. Line about 800 yards (720 m) in length. 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge, petrol hauled.
Alford Valley Railway
Alford to Haughton Park: about 1 mile (1.4 km). 2 ft (610 mm) gauge. Steam outline diesel locomotive.
Almond Valley Light Railway
Part of the Almond Valley Heritage Centre, near Livingston. Heritage Centre to Almondhaugh, a little over ¼ mile (0.5 km). Extension planned to Almond Ponds. 2 ft 6 in (760 mm) gauge. Diesel hauled using historic military locomotives (Website contains little information relating to railway)
Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway
Bo’ness to Manuel: 5 miles (8 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled.
Border Union Railway
Whitrope, near Hawick. Line about ¼ mile (0.4 km) in length. Standard gauge. Diesel hauled or diesel railcar.
CairnGorm Mountain Railway
Cairngorm Ski Area, near Aviemore. Coire Cas (car park) to Ptarmigan: 1¼ miles (2 km), with a rise of 1486 feet (453m). Broad gauge (2000mm) funicular. No access to the mountain from the Ptarmigan station (except for guided tours and winter skiers), but in summer walkers may enter the station and buy a ticket to ride down the funicular.
Caledonian Railway
Brechin to Bridge of Dun: 4 miles (6.4 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled. Murder Mystery evenings on certain dates.
Craigtoun Miniature Railway
Craigtoun Country Park, near St Andrews. About 400 yards (366m) in length, 15 in (381 mm) gauge, usually steam hauled.
East Links Family Park
Near Dunbar. 2 ft (610 mm) gauge line circling the park. Diesel hauled with steam outline locomotives.
Fife Heritage Railway
Kirkland Sidings, Leven. Line a little under ½ mile (0.7 km) in length. Standard gauge, steam or diesel hauled.
Keith and Dufftown Railway
Keith (Town station, about ¾ mile (1.2 km) from First ScotRail station) to Dufftown: 10¼ miles (16.3 km). Standard gauge.
Kerr’s Miniature Railway
West Links Park, Arbroath. West Links to Hospitalfield: 400 yards (366 m). 10¼ in (260 mm) gauge. Steam and diesel hauled.
Leadhills & Wanlockhead Railway
Leadhills to Glengonnar: about ¾ mile (1.1 km). Extension proposed to Wanlockhead, a further ¾ mile (1.1 km). 2 ft (610 mm) gauge. Diesel hauled, with a steam locomotive in the course of restoration.
Ness Islands Railway
Whin Park, Inverness. Line about 950 yards (870 m) in length. 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge, diesel hauled.
North-East of Scotland Railway
Proposal, currently in its very early stages, to reopen all or part of the railway line from Banff to Portsoy. About 10 miles (16 km), standard gauge (No website located at present)
The Railway Farm
The Railway Farm, near Pitlochry. Line over ¾ mile (1250 m) in length. 10¼ in (260 mm) gauge, diesel hauled. The line is used mainly for farm work but offers rides for passengers during the monthly Country Markets held at the farm.
Royal Deeside Railway
Milton of Crathes. Line about 1 mile (1.6 km) in length. Eventual extension proposed to Banchory, a total distance of about 3 miles (4.8km). Standard gauge. Diesel hauled.
Strathaven Miniature Railway
George Allen Park, Strathaven. Line about 500 yards (450 m) in length. 5 in (127 mm) / 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge, usually steam hauled.
Strathspey Steam Railway
Aviemore (First ScotRail station) to Broomhill: about 9½ miles (15.5 km). Proposed extension to Grantown on Spey, a total distance of 12¾ miles (20.5 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled and diesel railcars. Dining trains operate at certain times.
Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life
Coatbridge. The museum site includes a ¼ mile (0.4 km) standard gauge electric tramway.
Vogrie Park Miniature Railway
Vogrie Country Park, Gorebridge, Midlothian. Line about 650 yards (600 m) in length. 3½ in (89 mm) / 5 in (127 mm) / 7¼ in (184 mm) gauge, steam, petrol or battery electric hauled.
