Ptarmigan: 1¼ miles (2 km), with a rise of 1486 feet (453m).
Broad gauge (2000mm) funicular. No access to the mountain from the
Ptarmigan station (except for guided tours and winter skiers), but in
summer walkers may enter the station and buy a ticket to ride down the
The Railway Farm, near Pitlochry. Line over
¾ mile (1250 m) in length. 10¼ in (260 mm) gauge, diesel hauled. The
line is used mainly for farm work but offers rides for passengers during
the monthly Country Markets held at the farm.
Aviemore (First ScotRail station) to Broomhill: about 9½ miles
(15.5 km). Proposed extension to Grantown on Spey, a total distance
of 12¾ miles (20.5 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled and
diesel railcars. Dining trains operate at certain times.
