The island Commonwealth of Dominica should not be confused with the Dominican Republic, which forms the eastern part of the island of Hispaniola.
A steam hauled, narrow gauge railway was built on Dominica in 1910 by a forestry company for the purposes of timber extraction. It survived only until 1913.
