Tourist & Museum Railways in
EMD NW-2 #524, formerly of the Chicago Burlington &
at the Baldwin City depot of the Midland Railway
- Abilene &
Smoky Valley Railroad Abilene to Enterprise, about 5 miles
(8 km), standard gauge. Steam or diesel hauled. Operates weekends
from May to October, many weekdays in summer, and at other times for
school parties and private hire. Dining trains operate at certain
times. On certain days an optional extension to the ride is a tour
in a road/rail bus from Enterprise, which includes travel over a 12
mile (19 km) stretch of railway to Woodbine.
- Atchison & Western Railroad 12 in (305 mm)
gauge miniature railway about ½ mile (0.8 km) in length, in the
grounds of the Atchison Rail Museum. Steam and diesel hauled. Operates
weekends throughout the year.
& E Railroad 20 in (508 mm) gauge miniature railway about
2½ miles (4 km) in length, in the grounds of the Ellis Railroad museum.
Diesel hauled. Operates Tuesdays to Sundays, April to October.
- Heart of the Heartlands excursions on various
lines of the Kansas & Oklahoma and South Kansas & Oklahoma
Railroads. Diesel hauled or railcars, operating on various Saturdays,
Sundays and holidays during the year
Railway Baldwin City to Ottawa Junction, about 10 miles (16 km),
standard gauge. Diesel hauled. Operates weekends and holidays, May to
October, and weekends in early December. A shorter journey to Norwood
operates on Thursdays during the same period. The Kansas Belle all
inclusive dinner train operates on Sundays.
- Worlds of Fun Railroad in the Worlds of Fun theme
park, Kansas City, is a 3ft (914 mm) gauge steam hauled railway 1 mile
(1.6 km) in length. Park is open weekends from mid April to October,
daily from early May to mid August.
