Cass Scenic Railroad Cass to Bald Knob. Standard gauge, steam hauled. Short excursions Cass to Whittaker (via the line’s two switchbacks) operate daily late May to October, except for certain weekdays in September. Dining trains operate at certain times. Trains to Bald Knob operate on the same days, except for some Mondays. Services from Cass to Spruce and beyond were suspended in 2011 while part of the line is used for the transport of material in conjunction with an environmental improvement scheme. It is anticipated that services will resume in 2013 or 2014.
Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad several separate services:
- New Tygart Flyer Elkins to High Falls on the lines of West Virginia Central. Standard gauge, diesel hauled. Operates weekends and many weekdays, May to October.
- Cheat Mountain Salamander Elkins via High Falls to Cheat Bridge on the lines of West Virginia Central. Standard gauge, rail diesel cars. Operates most Saturdays May to October, Tuesdays to Saturdays in early October. Special excursions Elkins to Tygart Junction operate occasionally. Services south of Cheat Bridge were suspended in 2011 while part of the line is used for the transport of material in conjunction with an environmental improvement scheme. It is anticipated that services will resume in 2013 or 2014.
- Mountain Explorer Dinner Train Elkins to various destinations, including High Falls. All inclusive dining train operates various Saturday evenings from July to September.
- Durbin Rocket Durbin to Piney Island, about 5 miles (8 km). Standard gauge, steam hauled. Operates weekends May to October, also Thursdays and Fridays in July and August, and most weekdays in October
Joy Line Railroad 16 in (406 mm) gauge miniature railway, ½ mile (0.8 km) in length, at the Harpers Ferry Toy Train Museum (No website located at present)
Locust Heights & Western Railroad ¾ mile (1.2 km), 3ft (914 mm) gauge line near Clarksburg, with a recreation of a historical logging train hauled by a replica steam tram locomotive. Operates Wednesday evenings from May to October (No website located at present)
New River Train excursions offered in modern or heritage Amtrak equipment on main lines from Huntington. The routes used are also covered by regular Amtrak services
Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad Wappocomo, near Romney, to Petersburg on the lines of South Branch Valley Railroad. Standard gauge, diesel hauled. Trains serving the whole line operate typically on a few Saturdays in April and November. Short excursions are available most Saturdays May to September, daily during October, and on a few other days during the year
