Deep red crystals of Corundum (aluminium oxide). An unusual purple
form of Corundum, known as Oriental Amethyst, combines the properties of

A family of highly complex crystalline borosilicates. May be many colours,
including clear, red or green. Variegated varieties have sections of both
red and green, often at alternate ends of a single crystal. A variety known
as Watermelon Tourmaline has the red material enclosed within green. A
scarce pale blue variety is now considered highly collectable. There is
also a black variety, known as Schorl. |
