On the B5023 from Duffield (on the A6) and the B5036 from Cromford
(also on the A6).
BUS: Tuesdays to Saturdays: 2 per hour from Matlock,
hourly from Derby and Bakewell; Sundays and Bank Holiday
Monday: every 2 hours from Matlock and Belper.
CAR: the in-town car parks can get very busy, but there are
other car parks on the edge of town. There is some time limited on
street parking.
WELL DRESSINGS: vary from year to
year. Maps can be obtained from attendants at the well dressings,
and from various shops. In 2008, there were 9:
- in the yard of the Methodist Church on Wood Street
- 2 in the Memorial Gardens, next to the village hall
- a large dressing made up of a number of individual small panels
at Dip's Place, on the east side of St John's Street between the
Memorial Gardens and the cruck cottage
- 2 outside the old cruck cottage on St John's Street
- in the courtyard near the churchyard, behind the buildings
on St John's Street
- inside the Parish Church. This dressing was additional to
those shown on the maps for 2008
- in the Market Place
WELL IN THE MAKING: the Methodist Church dressings are made
in the Methodist Church Community Room during the preceding few days.
