Tourist and Museum Railways

• Angelner Dampfeisenbahn Süderbrarup, near Flensburg, to Kappeln, 14.6km. Standard gauge, steam hauled or diesel railcars. Operates Sundays, May to mid October, and on a few other days during the year.
• Buchhorster Waldbahn railway museum in Lauenburg offering train rides on a short 600mm gauge line. Diesel hauled using former industrial equipment. Operates a few days each year or by private charter (Site in German)
• Geesthachter Eisenbahn Bergedorf Süd to Krümmel, 15.8km, with the principal station at Geesthacht. Standard gauge, usually steam hauled. Operates typically 6 or 7 weekends each year, on a few of which a shorter route is operated (Site in German)
• Kurbahn Bad Bramstedt 600mm gauge railway about 0.7km in length. Diesel hauled using former industrial locomotives. Operates most Sundays, April to September.
• Eisenbahnmuseum Lokschuppen Aumühle railway museum in Aumühle, open Sundays throughout the year and offering train rides on certain days on 2 short lines within the museum grounds:
  • 600mm gauge, diesel hauled using former industrial locomotives
  • standard gauge, hand powered works trolleys

• Museumsbahnen Schönberger Strand Schönberger Strand to Schönberg (Holstein), 4km, standard gauge, usualy diesel hauled. Operates weekends in July and August, and Sundays in October. Historic electric trams operate on a short dual (1100mm and standard) gauge line near Schönberger Strand station, typically 3 or 4 days each week from April to October, including days when trains are running, and on a few days outside this period (Site in German)
• Torfbahn Himmelmoor near Quickborn. Narrow gauge, diesel hauled using former industrial locomotives. Operates typically 2 Sundays each month, Easter to October (Site in German)

Miniature Railways

• Vorwerker Kleinbahn 600mm gauge line in the Bürgerpark, Lübeck (No website located at present)
• Tolk-Schau Theme Park in Tolk has a 600mm gauge miniature railway circling part of the park, with 3 stations. Admission fee to the park is payable. Open Saturdays to Mondays and a number of other days, late April to mid October (Site in German and Danish, contains little information relating to railway)

Hand or pedal powered rail trolleys available for hire

• Draisinen Freunde Mittelholstein from Bokhorst on the line between Neumünster and Wankendorf, about 8.3 km of which is currently in use. Operates throughout the year by prior arrangement (Site in German)
• Draisinenbahn Nordfriesland Leck (near Niebüll) to Unaften, 20.8 km. Operates throughout the year by prior arrangement (Site in German)
• Erlebnisbahn Ratzeburg Ratzeburg (near Lübeck) to Hollenbek, about 13 km. Operates daily, May to October (Site in German)
