There is one short railway in Lesotho, opened in 1905. A branch of the South African railway network leaves the main line at Marseilles, enters Lesotho by a bridge over the Caledon River and continues for about 2km to a terminus at Maseru. It is built to 3ft 6in (1067mm) gauge. Although there is a station in Maseru, there are no regular passenger services.
